11:10 AM EST, 02/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower in Thursday's trading session, declining 0.65% to 1,300.03 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by 3D printer company voxeljet (VJET) and consumer goods giant Unilever (UL), which rose 8.7% and 3.8% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Genfit (GNFT) and telecommunications company VEON (VEON), which rose 3.7% and 2.6% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics (CALT) and medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP), which fell 6.9% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR), which dropped 3.2% and 2.4% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by tobacco company British American Tobacco (BTI) and biopharmaceutical company TC Biopharm (TCBP), which advanced 7.1% and 5.6% respectively. They were followed by software firm Endava (DAVA) and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN), which increased 1.9% and 1.7% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN), which lost 8.6% and 7.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and NuCana (NCNA), which were down 7.1% and 4.4% respectively.
