11:18 AM EDT, 03/28/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending slightly higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.1% to 1,376.92 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS) and biotech firm Evaxion Biotech (EVAX), which rose 3.2% and 3% respectively. They were followed by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and hotel booking site trivago (TRVG), which were up 2.7% and 2.2% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND), which fell 4.9% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS) and electronics company Philips (PHG), which were down 1.5% and 1.3% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which jumped 106% and 10% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and communications company WPP (WPP), which were up 5% and 2.3% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and biopharmaceutical company TC Biopharm (TCBP), which fell 16% and 5.6% respectively. They were followed by leisure travel company Carnival (CUK) and medical device maker Smith & Nephew (SNN), which were down 4.4% and 2.6% respectively.
