European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Lower in Tuesday Trading

11:15 AM EDT, 04/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were lower Tuesday morning, declining 0.67% to 1,332.69 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC) and furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ), which rose 3.4% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications firm Nokia (NOK), which rose 1.7%.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Biophytis (BPTS) and telecommunications company VEON (VEON), which fell 9.3% and 4.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which lost 3.6% and 2% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical companies Avadel Pharmaceuticals (AVDL) and Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which were up 4.2% and 2.7% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and Verona Pharma (VRNA), which increased 2% and 1.7% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which dropped 5.2% and 4.6% respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and financial services company HSBC (HSBC), which were down 4% and 2.5% respectively.
