11:10 AM EDT, 04/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending higher Friday morning, rising 0.46% to 1,330.20 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index. Despite the gain, the index remains on pace to end the week down more than 2%.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Calliditas Therapeutics (CALT) and Cellectis (CLLS), which rose 3.4% and 2.4% respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP (EDAP) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND), which increased 3.2% and 1.1% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Biophytis (BPTS) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which lost 4.8% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which dropped 4.2% and 2.8% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which rose 13.5% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company BP (BP) and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN), which were up 1.3% and 1.2% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and software firm Endava (DAVA), which lost 7.5% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL) and biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which were down 1.3% and 1% respectively.
