12:15 PM EDT, 07/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- After a disappointing April, Deutsche Bank said it thinks the United Kingdom's gross domestic product growth will push back into positive territory in May.
The U.K. will publish May's GDP on Friday.
The bank expects growth to edge up 0.1% month over month, led in large part by a rebound in the services sector. Risks to Deutsche Bank's projections are broadly balanced.
Relative to the bank's baseline projections, downside risks have emerged around its Q2 and 2025 annual projections. The 'awful April' GDP print sets Deutsche Bank back a tenth on its quarterly GDP projection. The bank's nowcasts are running closer to 0.1-0.2% quarter over quarter versus Deutsche Bank's official projection of 0.25% quarter over quarter.
This also raises a tenth downside to the bank's annual growth projection of 1.2%.
