11:21 AM EDT, 07/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Pharmala Biotech (MDMA.CN) on Monday said it received an Australian patent for the foundational matter required for its lead drug candidate ALA-002.

Pharmala, which is focused on MDMA research and development, says the finished drug product will be known in Australia as LaNeo Gen 2. It already completed GMP manufacturing of the foundational substance required for ALA-002, and will begin manufacturing the complete product for clinical activities internationally.

"This GMP manufacturing milestone represents not only an important step in PharmAla's development, but a key achievement for the development of the second generation of MDMA analogues," said Chief Operations Officer Farnoud Kazemzadeh.

PharmAla says it is the only company currently providing clinical-grade MDMA for patient treatments outside of clinical trials.
