In continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications operators Orange (ORAN) and Telefonica (TEF), which rose 4% and 3.5% respectively. They were followed by financial services firm Credit Suisse Group (CS) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which were up 2.8% and 2.4%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by 3D printer maker Materialise (MTLS) and biopharmaceutical company Genfit (GNFT), which fell 5.9% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by internet browser company Opera Limited (OPRA) and hotel booking site trivago NV (TRVG), which dropped 3% and 2.3%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by airplane lessor Fly Leasing Limited (FLY) and communications company WPP plc (WPP), which rose 4.2% and 2.8% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD) and oil and gas company Royal Dutch Shell (RDS-A), which were up 2.5% each.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by medical device company Edap (EDAP) and pharmaceutical company Avadel Pharmaceuticals (AVDL), which fell 4.6% and 3.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company MorphoSys (MOR) and cruise line operator Carnival Corporation (CUK), which were down 2.6% and 2.5%.
