In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX) and shipping company Navios Maritime Partners (NMM), which rose 7.7% and 6.1%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Genfit (GNFT) and Biofrontera (BFRA), which increased 5.4% and 5.2%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical companies DBV Technologies (DBVT) and ERYTECH Pharma (ERYP) which fell 2.6% and 2.4%, respectively. They were followed by biometrics company IDEX Biometrics (IDBA) and Deutsche Bank (DB), which dropped 2.1% and 1.7%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by mining company Barrick Gold Corporation (GOLD) and biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which rose 3.9% and 3.4%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BBL) and biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma (VRNA), which were up 1.5% each.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which lost 3.9% and 3.2%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and bank HSBC Holdings (HSBC), which were down 2.8% and 2.1%.
