European ADRs Slightly Higher Monday as Miners, Telecoms Gain

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by fingerprint sensors supplier IDEX Biometrics (IDBA) and COVID-19 vaccine developer BioNTech (BNTX), which rose 5.7% and 5.5% respectively. They were followed by Spanish telecom Telefonica (TEF) and dating app operator Spark Networks (LOV), which advanced 5.3% and 4.3%.

Among decliners, biotech Orphazyme (ORPH) and telecom equipment maker Ericsson (ERIC) lost 5.4% and 5.3% respectively. They were followed by electronics supplier Philips (PHG) and furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ), which dropped 5.2% and 4.8%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by miner BHP (BBL) and mobile operator Vodafone (VOD), which rose 3.2% and 3% respectively. They were followed by miner Rio Tinto (RIO) and oil producer BP (BP), which were up 2.4% and 2.1%.

The heaviest decliners in the UK and Ireland were biotechs Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and Mereo BioPharma (MREO), which fell 8.4% and 5.5% respectively. Biopharmaceutical companies MorphoSys (MOR) and Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC) were down 4.4% and 4.3%.
