In continental Europe, the gainers were led by 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which rose 3.8% and 3.4%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Forward Pharma (FWP) and financial services company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which were up 3.1% and 2.6%, respectively.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR), which fell 4.9%, followed by furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ) and energy firm Eni (E), which lost 3% each. Oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE) was down 2.6%.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP) and Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which rose 5.7% and 4.9%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and financial services company Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), which were up 4.3% and 2.5%, respectively.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and mining company BHP Group (BHP), which fell 9.5% and 3.8%, respectively. They were followed by insurance firm Prudential (PUK) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which were down 3.3% and 2.9%.
