European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Track Higher in Friday Trading

11:11 AM EDT, 08/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending higher late Friday morning, rising 0.74% to 1,979.62 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index, which is up 0.55% for the week so far.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by accommodations booking site trivago (TRVG) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which advanced 7.2% and 6.2%, respectively. They were followed by lender Banco Santander (SAN) and furniture maker Natuzzi (NTZ), which rose 2.9% and 1.7%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which dropped 4.2% and 1.2%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS (FOCL) and healthcare tech company Royal Philips (PHG), which were off 1.1% and 0.4%, respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB) and biopharmaceutical firm Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which climbed 6.6% and 4.3%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and lender Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), which were up 2.9% and 2.1%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which lost 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. They were followed by alcoholic beverage company Diageo (DEO) and hospitality company Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), which were down 0.3% each.
