07:39 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European bourses tracked marginally higher midday Wednesday, as traders weighed mildly easing bond yields against stiffening oil prices.
Food stocks led gains on continental trading floors, while oil shares lagged.
The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 Index was up 0.1% mid-session.
In midday action, yields on benchmark 10-year German bonds declined slightly to 3.59%, while front-month Brent crude-oil futures were up 1% at $103.61 a barrel.
Investors also mulled muted Wall Street futures, but higher closes overnight on Asian exchanges, the latter on tech-sector strength.
In economic news, the UK Q2 gross domestic product rose 0.5% on quarter, and by 1.4% on year, reported the Office for National Statistics.
In the industry sectors mid-session, the Stoxx Europe 600 Technology Index was down 0.2%, and the Stoxx 600 Banks Index lost 0.1%.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Oil and Gas Index eased 0.9%, while the Stoxx 600 Europe Food and Beverage Index inclined 0.5%.
The REITE, a European REIT index, rose 0.1%.
On the national market indexes, Germany's DAX was down 0.3%, and the FTSE 100 in London was steady. The CAC 40 in Paris was down 0.6%, but Spain's IBEX 35 lifted 0.1%.
The Euro Stoxx 50 volatility index was up 0.9% at 18.18, indicating below-average volatility for European stock markets in the next 30 days, a positive signal. A reading above 20 indicates choppier markets ahead, while below 20 suggests calmer exchanges.
