07:45 AM EDT, 10/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European bourses tracked lower midday Wednesday as higher bond yields and global crude prices pressured market sentiment.

Bank and tech stocks led losses on continental trading floors, while oil shares firmed.

The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 Index was off 1% mid-session.

Yields on 10-year France sovereign bonds touched 4.92% midday, on rising concerns regarding the nation's debt load, expected fiscal deficits, and ongoing social unrest.

Brent crude futures rose 1.6% to $102.22 a barrel, in mid-session moves.

Investors also eyed Wall Street futures in the red, and lower closes overnight on Asian exchanges.

In economic news, real industrial production in Germany rose 2% in August from July, and by 2.3% on year, reported Destatis.

In the sectors midday, the Stoxx Europe 600 Technology Index was down 2.4%, and the Stoxx 600 Banks Index lost 3.1%.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Oil and Gas Index rose 0.4%, while the Stoxx 600 Europe Food and Beverage Index declined 0.1%.

The REITE, a European REIT index, fell 0.2%.

On the national market indexes, Germany's DAX was down 1.4%, and the FTSE 100 in London lost 0.7%. The CAC 40 in Paris was down 1.1%, and Spain's IBEX 35 eased 1.8%.

The Euro Stoxx 50 volatility index was up 3.5 % at 18.37, but still indicating below-average volatility for European stock markets in the next 30 days, a positive signal. A reading above 20 indicates choppier markets ahead, while below 20 suggests calmer exchanges.
