07:50 AM EDT, 10/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European bourses tracked moderately higher midday Thursday as traders weighed the continued flow of corporate earnings, crude prices and bond yields ahead of the European Central Bank rate decision.

The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 Index was up 0.5% mid-session.

The ECB is slated to announced its rate decision at 9:15 am ET, although market expectations are for the bank to leave rates unchanged.

Oil and property stocks led gains on continental trading floors, while bank shares lagged in mid-session activity.

Brent crude-oil futures were down 1.3% at $113.86 a barrel in midday trades.

Investors also eyed Wall Street futures in the red, after Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) overnight reported lower Q3 earnings alongside mounting capital outlays.

Asian exchanges closed choppily on Thursday, and South Korea's KOSPI Index fell 1.2% after Samsung Electronics reported record Q3 earnings but delayed a new shareholder-return program, and issued tempered guidance relative to rival SK hynix (SKHY) on chip demand.

In economic news, European Economic Sentiment Indicator fell to 96.9 in October from 97.5 in September, in both the eurozone and the broader EU, the European Commission reported.

In the sectors, the Stoxx Europe 600 Technology Index was steady, while the Stoxx 600 Banks Index lost 0.6% midday.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Oil and Gas Index rose 1.5%, while the Stoxx 600 Europe Food and Beverage Index declined 0.1%.

The REITE, a European REIT index, rose 0.6%.

On the national market indexes, Germany's DAX was up 1%, and the FTSE 100 in London gained 0.5%. The CAC 40 in Paris was up 1%, but Spain's IBEX 35 eased 0.5%.

Yields on benchmark 10-year German bonds were lower, near 3.37%.

The Euro Stoxx 50 volatility index was down 2.6% at 19.77, indicating below-average volatility for European stock markets in the next 30 days, a positive signal. A reading above 20 indicates choppier markets ahead, while below 20 suggests calmer exchanges.
