Hong Kong Exchanges Closed on Typhoon Watch; Shanghai Up 0.4%

06:27 AM EDT, 10/13/2021 (MT Newswires) -- The Hong Kong exchanges were closed on Wednesday after city officials issued a typhoon alert.

The Shanghai Composite added 0.4% to 3,561.76 on the day, after Beijing reported strong trade figures for September.

China exports rose 28.1% year-over-year to $305.7 billion in September, AP News reported, citing China customs officials. Imports rose 17.6% to $240 billion from a year ago.

For the first nine months of the year, exports rose 22.7% from a year earlier, while imports increased 22.6%, the state Xinhua news service reported, citing customs data.
