Hong Kong Hang Seng Index Up 0.2%; Property and Tech Issues Gain

05:19 AM EST, 01/26/2022 (MT Newswires) -- The Hong Kong Hang Seng Index edged forward 0.2% on Wednesday as the property and tech sectors made gains. Traders awaited pending policy decisions by the US Federal Reserve, to be released after Asian exchanges are closed.

The broad gauge Hang Seng rose 46.29 to 24,289.90, as gaining issues outnumbered losers 34 to 25. The Hang Seng TECH Index rose 0.8% on the day, while the Mainland Properties Index rose 0.1%.

Leading the upside were Xinyi Solar (968:HK), up 8.1%, followed by game-maker NetEase (9999:HK), up 4.3%, and then telecom service China Unicom HK (762:HK), up 3.2%.

On the downside were knitwear maker Shenzhou International (2313:HK), off 7.4%, and then Wuxi Biologics (2269:HK), off 6.8%.

On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.7% to 3,455.67.
