From continental Europe, the gainers were led by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which rose 6% and 5.7% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX) and brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD), which increased 4.3% and 1.9% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by electronics conglomerate Philips (PHG) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which lost 2.3% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by software firm SAP (SAP) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which fell 2% and 1.9% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and Verona Pharma (VRNA), which climbed 12% and 7% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which were up 4.7% and 2.2% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by communications company WPP (WPP) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which shed 16% and 2.5% respectively. They were followed by utilities company National Grid (NGG) and alcoholic beverage company Diageo (DEO), which dropped 1.6% and 1.2% respectively.
